In the last few years, roguelikes have experienced a resurgence in popularity, from The Binding of Isaac, FTL: Faster Than Light to Darkest Dungeon to Rogue Legacy to Strafe.
The list is long,. and they come in many different styles and flavors, with most modern-day roguelikes falling into the subgenre “rogue-lite” where players can make some form of gradual progression from game to game, but they are often difficult despite this.
With newcomers like Dead Cells on the horizon, do you enjoy the permadeath elements and procedurally generated experiences that roguelikes provide? A sense of new adventure every time, with some chance dictating what treasures – or terrors – you may run into on any given playthrough? Or does the randomness turn you off, pushing you toward fare with more control?
